Pushing Boundaries - The 2022 Hyundai Tucson

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson’s entirely new look–with a longer, wider body–takes compact SUV design into more modern territory. Its complex network of sensors and cameras help keep you even safer while also making driving and parking a lot easier. For the first time ever the Tucson is giving you choices that push the boundaries of efficiency and performance, and it’s coming to Canada in Spring 2021.

What to Expect

As one of the best-selling crossover SUVs in Canada, this fourth generation of the Tucson sports a daring new design that seems destined to shake up the compact-SUV marketplace. You can also expect the Tucson to be more tech forward than previous generations, embracing the integration of technologies with the lifestyle of tech-savvy consumers, creating a space where technology and information seamlessly blend.

Exterior

There’s nothing subtle about the 2022 Tucson. Its brand-new design takes things up a notch with a sleek roofline, chiseled surfaces, and muscular fenders. It’s a contemporary look with a distinctively fresh take. Some notable features include its angular body panels, embedded Parametric Hidden LED Lights integrated seamlessly in the front grille, a single, full-width LED taillamp that incorporates triangular shapes when lit, a bigger body than previous generations, and an overall more athletic appearance.

Interior

Inside the Tucson you’ll be welcomed by a spacious, streamlined space, designed with you in mind. With intuitive innovations, premium amenities, and larger cargo space, everything is thoughtfully arranged. The Tucson offers an 8-inch colour touchscreen coupled with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but you can also opt for the available 10.25-inch touch screen display, which is home base for navigation, air, and infotainment controls. Behind the second row seating, 38.7 cubic feet of cargo space is available for all of your travel needs.

Tech and Infotainment

The vertical-oriented centre console screen is where you’ll find all of your controls for navigation, air, and infotainment. The lower dashboard screen improves visibility, and there are also ambient lights with 64 colours and ten levels of adjustable brightness to choose from.

You’ll never have to worry about who controls the music with the Tucson’s unique Bluetooth connectivity that allows both driver and passenger to alternate between their playlists without disconnecting and reconnecting their respective phones. If you want to upgrade your sound experience, you can also opt for an upper trim that offers a Bose Premium audio system for high-quality sound.

Powertrain

The Tucson’s engine is a naturally aspirated 2.5L Smartstream four-cylinder, pumping out 190 horsepower and 182 lb.-ft. of torque hooked up to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Also coming soon are both hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions with 1.6L turbocharged engines, which will make 226 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque. Also coming soon will be an available sportier N-Line Performance version and available HTRAC All-Wheel-Drive System.

Safety Features

Pushing Boundaries - The 2022 Hyundai Tucson

The 2022 Tucson offers you more safety features than ever before. Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection uses the forward camera and radar to detect vehicles or pedestrians in your path and warn you of a potential collision. If you don’t stop in time, the system will automatically apply emergency braking.

With Lane Keeping Assist your vehicle warns you through audio and visual cues if your vehicle drifts out of your lane without signaling. Your vehicle will also apply corrective steering assistance if necessary.

If your Tucson detects a vehicle in your blind spot while your turn signal is on the Blind Spot Collision Avoidance Assist will alert you with audio and visual cues, and automatically apply the brakes if necessary.

With Blind-Spot View Monitor, when you use the turn signal before a lane change, the instrument cluster displays a live video feed of your blind spot from the side view mirror cameras.

The Tucson’s BlueLink connectivity includes Remote Start with Climate Control, Remote Door Lock/Unlock, and Destination Search by Voice, all through your smartphone.

Other safety features include:

  • Lane Following Assist
  • Surround View Monitor
  • Reverse Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist
  • Remote Smart Parking Assist
  • High Beam Assist
