If you want to learn more about the Hyundai Elantra, you’ll be blown away by what’s in store for 2021. And if you’re already a fan of the Hyundai Elantra, you’re going to love it even more. The 2021 Elantra is all-new: it features a fully-redesigned exterior, a driver-focused interior and leading edge technology.

So, what do you need to know before it hits stores this Fall 2020? We’ll highlight what we know so far – we’re sure you’ll be just as excited as we are.

Trim Overview

Both the exterior and interior of the 2021 Hyundai Elantra have been completely redesigned. The exterior showcases a new silhouette with a lower and wider profile. Its contouring is angular, modern and sporty, creating a look unlike any other Elantra model. Its front grille design is geometric and angular, complementing the lowered, chiseled hood. The LED headlights are also angular, blending into the hood contouring to complete the geometric aesthetic. And the LED taillights showcase a single light strip that stretches the length of the rear profile. At first glance, it becomes clear that the 2021 Elantra has set a new standard in style.

The interior has been restyled to become more driver-focused, while passenger seating sports a more minimalist aesthetic. The dashboard and center console are angled towards the driver’s seat for easier access to controls. The front air vents will now span the length of the dashboard, complemented by a single LED light strip that spans from the steering column to the passenger side door panel.

The 2021 Elantra is also anticipated to have slightly greater cargo capacity than earlier models, with 60/40 split rear seat capability.

The Elantra will come standard equipped with an 8” infotainment touchscreen display, compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It will also come standard with a rearview camera with dynamic parking and reversing guidelines.

If you’re looking to upgrade your drive experience even more, you can opt for the available 10.25” touchscreen display as well as the 10.25” digital driver cluster. You can enjoy your music through the available 8-speaker Bose premium audio system, and you can ensure you always stay connected with the available wireless charging pad.

Performance

The 2021 Elantra will also offer a new powertrain option: this latest model will be the first ever to offer a hybrid option. The Elantra Hybrid will utilize both a 1.6L 4-cylinder gas engine and a 43-horsepower electric motor. Together, you can expect the Elantra Hybrid to deliver a total of 139 horsepower.

Non-hybrid trims will utilize a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine. You’ll have the option of either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed intelligent variable transmission (IVT). IVT is designed to function like a traditional automatic transmission, but with technology to improve fuel economy by only delivering power to parts of the vehicle that are in use.

Overall, the 2021 Elantra is anticipated to provide an improved fuel economy at 46 mpg.

Safety

The Elantra will be equipped with the most advanced safety features. From the vehicle structure to its active safety technology, the Elantra is designed to keep you, your passengers and others on the road safe. As with all Hyundai models, you’ll find a state-of-the-art SUPERSTRUCTURE vehicle frame. The SUPERSTRUCTURE frame is made of advanced, high-strength steel that delivers exceptional stiffness and strength. In the event of a collision, SUPERSTRUCTURE helps to protect vehicle occupants by absorbing harmful generated at impact and directs it away from the passenger compartment.

In addition to this, the Elantra is equipped with Hyundai SafetySense technology, which will include standard features like:

  •       Automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection
